Metro Storage

Metro Storage, a leading storage solutions provider, embarked on a sustainability journey by integrating rooftop solar energy at its Skokie, Illinois location. Storage facilities typically feature large, flat rooftops, ideal for hosting expansive solar arrays that can fully power the facility’s energy needs. By generating clean energy on-site, facilities reduce reliance on the grid, significantly lowering electricity costs. The rooftop solar system generates enough power to meet 100% of Metro Storage’s energy needs, greatly reducing dependence on the grid. With the integration of solar energy, facilities gain more predictable energy expenses and improved energy security.

Site Assessment: A comprehensive analysis of the rooftop space, energy consumption, weather conditions, snow load, and local solar irradiance was conducted to determine the optimal system size and annual energy generation.

System Design: Utilizing advanced modeling tools, an 79 kW solar system was designed to offset facility’s 100% energy load. The system included Bloomberg tier-1 listed high-efficiency solar panels and smart inverters for optimal energy generation and system longevity.

Installation: The panels were mounted on the roof using 10 degrees tilt and ballasted by means of concrete blocks, specifically designed to withstand regional climate conditions. Installation was completed with minimal disruption to daily operations.

Integration: The solar system was seamlessly integrated with the building’s existing electrical infrastructure, ensuring reliable power supply.
