Macomb Park District partnered with General Energy Corporation (GEC) to install three ground-mounted solar arrays, marking a significant step toward sustainability and energy independence. This project was financed through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), allowing the park district to benefit from clean energy without incurring upfront capital costs.
Project Objectives
The primary objectives for this solar project were:
- Energy Cost Reduction: Lower the district’s energy expenses by reducing reliance on grid power.
- Environmental Responsibility: Support Macomb Park District’s sustainability goals and contribute to reduced carbon emissions.
- Educational Value: Provide a visible example of renewable energy for the community, encouraging further environmental initiatives.
Project Details:
- System Size: 85 kW
- Anticipated Annual Production: 99,627 kWh/yr
- Annual Environmental Impact: The solar system will offset the park district carbon footprint by 67 tons, equivalent to the carbon dioxide emissions from 7,532 gallons of gasoline
- Role: Developer & EPC
