Core Pipe Products

Core Pipe Products, based in Carol Stream, Illinois, aimed to reduce energy costs, minimize carbon emissions, and demonstrate its commitment to environmental stewardship. To achieve these objectives and protect against future electricity price increases from the Electric Distribution Company (EDC), the company invested in a commercial rooftop solar system. The project, which took eleven months from the initial assessment to commercial operation, involved the following phases:

  • Detailed analysis of the building’s structure and existing electrical infrastructure to develop engineering plans.
  • Obtaining permits from the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and securing an interconnection agreement with the EDC.
  • Installing the solar system.
  • Conducting commissioning and testing.
  • Initiating commercial operation.

Project Details:

  • System Size and Type: 803 kW Ballasted Rooftop Solar PV System.
  • Annual Electricity Generation: The system is expected to produce 925,720 kWh of clean energy.
  • Annual Environmental Impact: The installation is projected to reduce the company’s carbon footprint by 647 tons annually, equivalent to the CO2 emissions from consuming 72,769 gallons of gasoline.
  • Role: Developer and EPC
