GEC successfully completed a rooftop solar installation at Union Ridge School, aimed at reducing the school’s carbon footprint while providing sustainable energy solutions to the community. GEC specializes in the design, engineering, and construction of commercial solar systems, ensuring optimal performance and long-term savings for their clients. The solar system provides long-term price certainty and savings with no upfront or ongoing costs to the school
Union Ridge School, a leader in sustainability, partnered with GEC to implement renewable energy solutions that align with their commitment to environmental stewardship. By signing a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), the school is able to enhance energy efficiency and reduce operating costs without the need for capital investment. The system will be owned and operated by a third party, responsible for its commercial operation and maintenance, allowing the school to save money while avoiding upfront financial burdens.
Looking ahead, GEC continues to advance renewable energy initiatives across the educational, commercial, and industrial sectors, promoting energy independence and environmental responsibility across the U.S.
Project Details:
- System Size: 274 kW DC
- Anticipated Annual Production: 308,610 kWh/yr
- Annual Environmental Impact: The solar system will offset the school’s carbon footprint by 216 tons, equivalent to the carbon dioxide emissions from 24,259 gallons of gasoline
- Role: Developer & EPC
Key Benefits:
- Energy Savings: The solar installation reduces Union Ridge School’s reliance on grid electricity, leading to substantial cost savings over the system’s lifespan.
- Educational Value: The rooftop solar array provides an educational resource for students, fostering awareness of renewable energy technologies and environmental conservation.
- Long-term Sustainability: With minimal maintenance requirements, the solar system provides reliable energy production for decades, enhancing the school’s operational resilience.
